THE TECHNOLOGY
What is Magnesium
Thixomoulding?
A precision injection-moulding route for producing
complex magnesium components with controlled
processing and repeatable manufacturing.
01
Feedstock
Magnesium alloy feedstock is introduced
into the machine barrel.
02
Controlled Heating
The material is heated and sheared into
a controlled semi-molten state.
03
Injection
The processed material is injected into
a precision mould.
04
Component
The moulded component is produced with
the required geometry for further
engineering and validation.
Lightweighting
Magnesium’s low density creates opportunities
for engineered lightweight components.
Complex Geometry
Suitable designs can explore complex geometry
and functional integration.
Part Consolidation
Selected applications may enable integration
of multiple functions.
Recyclability
Material recovery pathways can support
circularity where applicable.
